Electronic throttle control (ETC) is an industry term that refers to a variety of electronic devices used to control the speed of vehicles.
A key feature of this technology is the ability to remotely turn on and off an electronic device by using a special control panel located in the dash of a vehicle.
According to a report published by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), a significant number of cars, trucks and SUVs equipped with ETC have been fitted with electronic throttle controls.
The most popular models include the Tesla Model S, the Ford Focus, the Volkswagen Passat and the Hyundai Sonata.
The report also points to the adoption of ETC as the “next big thing in vehicle technology” and a “key driver for the industry’s overall growth.”
The report estimates that ETC systems have been installed on over 50 million vehicles worldwide and “will continue to be a key factor in the global vehicle market.”
Although the industry has long been concerned about safety and the safety of the driver, the recent introduction of ETA systems has prompted renewed interest in the technology.
“It’s a technology that’s going to make cars safer and make people happier,” Mark Pimentel, president of global research at Consumer Reports, told CNNMoney.
“There’s going not a whole lot of debate on that front.
They’re going to be more convenient to drive and more convenient for drivers, so that’s the whole reason they’re being adopted.”
However, Pimentels worries that the ETA system is not yet fully compatible with the current infotainment systems in the market, which is something that he believes is a key concern for the ETC community.
“The first thing that’s really going to stop it from being adopted is the infotactics and connectivity issues,” he said.
Pimentles concern is not unfounded, as the CEA’s report points to concerns regarding the reliability of ECTC systems as well as the fact that some cars can experience issues related to the system when connected to a smartphone.
“In general, people are more interested in the convenience of the technology,” Pimentes added.
“But, the reality is that you’ve got to get the infolinks right to make a car work.
You’ve got a few things to consider.
The infotactor is a pretty big part of that equation.
You need the connectivity.
The system needs to have the ability for you to control a vehicle from your phone.”
A car’s infotainer is usually mounted on the dashboard and can provide an overview of the current driving situation, such as lane markings and other information.
The car also needs to be able to be turned on and locked into a different mode.
“We have to make sure that the infodriver, the infotech and the infosync can all work together, but also the driver is comfortable and they can trust the infoder,” Piments told CNN.
“That’s where the technology is going to play a bigger role.”
If ETA is to take off, the CEAs report suggests that a number of companies will have to work together.
“Etc is not only going to go to the top of the list,” Pimental said.
“At the same time, it is not going to take away from the other infotas, like the infocomms, the telecomms, etc. So, it’s going both ways.
