ELECTRONIC DRUM KITS Are a popular new tool in the game of chess and electronic drum sets, but are they safe?

The answer is, for the most part, yes, according to the American Chemical Society, the trade association that represents manufacturers.

“Electronic drum kits can cause harm to your health and possibly your mental health,” said Karen Renn, senior chemical scientist for chemical safety and safety compliance at ACS.

“In particular, the electronic drum kit can produce dangerous levels of radioactivity when used improperly.”

It’s important to note that electronic drum sounds and effects are designed to simulate the sound of a real cymbal or cymbalist.

But Renn said electronic drum makers often use the wrong kind of sound equipment to simulate drum sounds.

“Some drum kits use cheap gear that’s too loud,” Renn explained.
